Montessori Program

Nurturing, Warm, Inviting Classrooms

Highly Qualified Teachers

At Creative Playrooms, we offer several programs designed to encourage all children to discover, grow, and explore while laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Our primary focus is meeting each child’s individual needs and fostering their growth. Children are placed in a classroom that best meets their needs and encourages them to develop at their own pace. This establishes self-confidence and healthy growth, which results in a strong, positive self-image.

The Montessori method is based upon the observations and discoveries of the first female Italian physician, Dr. Maria Montessori. Her philosophy nurtures the joy of learning in children at an early age, providing a framework in which intellectual and social disciplines coexist. She believed that education is a lifelong process, and it should be an aid to life. Her philosophy was that children learn at their own pace and develop according to their own timetable. Their physical, emotional, psychic, and intellectual abilities are interrelated. Children must have freedom, within clearly defined limits, to develop their full potential.

Based on this philosophy, Creative Playrooms Montessori Program provides children with a prepared learning environment that helps them think, organize, and observe. The teacher functions as a guide, aiding children in their choice of developmentally-appropriate learning materials. This environment, along with the teacher’s role, distinguishes the Montessori Programs from other educational approaches. Our program encourages self-directed learning where the child is free to explore and discover, allowing them to experience the joy of learning and promoting the development of self-esteem.

Lifelong learning begins in the infant room! We understand and celebrate that every infant is unique and may have their own schedule or unique needs. From day one, we partner closely with you to understand these needs, making the transition into care easier. On an ongoing basis, we provide you with daily logs of feedings, changes, happenings, and new activities to keep you informed about both the big and the very little things that take place every day for your precious little one. Our cozy infant spaces are warm, nurturing spaces, intended to foster and grow and deep connection between your family and our infant caregivers.

We believe that play is learning and that a toddler’s day should be filled with opportunities for rich play that is enhanced by teacher interactions.

Our colorful, safe classrooms encourage learning and social/emotional growth through discovery, sharing, and independence. Our toddler program begins to introduce new language concepts and skills through storytime, games, and make-believe. Physical skills are developing through push and pull toys, stacking, block play, creative movement, and the use of musical instruments. Toddlers begin to discover shapes and colors and expand their sense through hands-on arts and crafts activities.

In our traditional Preschool classrooms, daily activities are designed to build language development, get your children ready for school, and begin to establish foundational skills they will continue to build upon. All classrooms have themes that rotate throughout the year that direct children’s learning to keep them engaged. Teachers prepare activities, keeping in mind the need for repetition and the importance of play and exploration.

Activities included in the program are language development, writing, science, math, fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional development, cooking, and independent play.

This program focuses on kindergarten readiness skills. Fine motor skills are taken further by teaching children to write their names and use correct strokes to form letters of the alphabet. We further expand the skills they have begun to develop in vocabulary and reading basic words. We create intentional learning experiences to expand their critical thinking skills. Children learn how to identify patterns, complete sequences, and to follow multiple-step directions. This gives our children the confidence to transition right into elementary school.

Private Chartered Kindergarten

Our full-day kindergarten program is chartered by The Ohio Department of Education and meets the Ohio Academic Content Standards in all curricular areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Spanish classes, a modern Computer Lab, Art, Music, Swimming (in our own pool!), and Physical Education are also important parts of our program!

Our kindergarten students also enjoy field trips to Patterson Farms, Cleveland Zoo, and the local library.

Achievement tests and school readiness assessments are administered, followed by Parent-Teacher conferences. Regularly scheduled progress and report cards are also provided.

In addition, our creative cook prepares a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack daily. Before and aftercare available for your convenience.

School Age

Our school-age program is the perfect solution to keeping children active and safe during the hours before and after school. Planned enrichment activities in reading, math, and science keep children engaged and curious.

Outdoor Play is Learning

We believe outdoor play is a vital element in a child’s learning experience. It is a medium for self-expression and helps develop their individual thinking processes. Our inspiring outdoor spaces provide a dynamic setting for children to learn how to build their interpersonal skills.

Additional Programs

Creative Playrooms’ Swimming program is designed to teach children swimming skills and water safety rules. Learning to swim can help children build self-confidence, self-esteem, and inner strength. It also provides the children with additional physical exercise time. The children have a combination of swimming lessons and free swim time. Each child age 3 and above (potty trained) will have the opportunity to swim at least twice a week.

An instructor certified by the American Red Cross or an equivalent Water Safety Program shall supervise all swimming. Our pool was specifically designed and built for the use of young children. The pool graduates in depth, with a maximum depth of three feet.

Each child will move through the swim program at a different pace. It takes time to develop the coordination and endurance required for some strokes.

Creative Playrooms must have written permission on file from the parent or guardian of the child before the child will be permitted to participate in the swim program.

Soccer Shots

Soccer Shots introduces soccer exclusively to children ages 3 to 5. Using creative and imaginative games, weekly sessions focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting. Soccer Shots will expose your child to the fun of soccer and provide the foundation needed to get started in the sport. Soccer Shots is an affordable way for your child to learn about the fundamentals of soccer. See the Director to sign your child up for Soccer Shots.

Stretch-n-Grow provides a comprehensive fitness program at an early, impressionable age. Stretch-n-Grow instructors are dedicated, talented people that have a positive impact on the health and fitness of preschool-aged children nationwide. The program is designed to increase your child’s strength, balance, and flexibility while developing coordination skills and rhythmic awareness. The class includes music movement, sign-along-songs, and the use of props.

All About Dance offers convenient and affordable dance lessons and is a great way for your child to learn and enjoy the art of dance! For additional information, please visit their website at

Special Attire Days

We have dress up days in conjunction with events, holidays and curriculum themes for the week. What fun! Some of the favorites are: western wear for Rodeo week, Wacky hair day, and Dress backward day.

Classroom Parties

Classroom parties add to the fun and excitement of childhood. Kids look forward to parties for holidays like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Saint Patrick’s Day, and Halloween. We incorporate fun activities in conjunction with our curriculum. For example, during “Friendship Week” the kids learn about the importance of friendship and get to make friends with children from a neighboring LPL school. Then they get to enjoy a “friendship Lunch” together. Another example would be Teddy Bears. Children will study the history of the Teddy Bear and then bring in their bears for a “Teddy Bear Picnic.”

Fun Within the Community

Young children are always interested in things they can do when they grow up or in the special talents of people in our community. Guest speakers give children exposure to new and interesting things and make their day special. Besides having special visitors, the children are sometimes the guest. They may visit the local Fire or Police Department, see behind the scene at a local grocery store or restaurant, or visit a nursing home for caroling.
